By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM March 7. The Syndicate of the University of Kerala, which met here today, approved a proposal for academic cooperation with the Catholic University of Belgium. The cooperation will be in the field of Sanskrit studies.

It was decided that the Vice-Chancellor would summon the principal of the Government College at Kariavattom to seek an explanation why the College fixed the fee for its M.Sc Bio-chemistry course without the sanction of the university. There will be no admission next year for this course.

The Syndicate approved a hike in the fellowships for research scholars. From the next financial year onwards, the grant for the first and second year will be Rs. 3,000, while the new grant for the final year would be Rs. 3,600. The post-doctoral fellowship has been hiked to Rs. 4,000.

The Vice-Chancellor informed the Syndicate that the selection committee for selecting a candidate for the post of Registrar could not arrive at a unanimous decision. It was also decided to postpone the elections to the Academic Council from March 10 to March 20.
