Violence at DPI rally, AIADMK office attacked

Mayiladuthurai March 14. The police have arrested 46 persons in connection with violence at a Dalit Panthers of India rally here and the attack on an AIADMK office at nearby Sembanarkoil yesterday. Police jeeps, transport corporation buses and other vehicles were damaged as violence broke out during the rally, held here under the leadership of the DPI convener, R. Tirumavalavan, the police said.

The AIADMK office was attacked allegedly by some persons who were returning from Mayiladuturai after attending the rally, last night.

Following a complaint from local AIADMK functionaries, the Sembanarkoil police have arrested 12 persons.

The Mayiladuturai police, who have registered a case against Mr.Tirumavalavan and other DPI office-bearers, arrested 34 persons in connection with the violence during the rally.
