By Our Staff Reporter
The decision of the Government to host the YES had been announced at the last summit at Alexandria in Egypt and the same had been communicated to the Central Government, it was stated in the demands for Sports and Youth Services as submitted to the Assembly by the Minister, P. Ramulu. The summit will be an opportunity for members of youth organisations to interact on finding ways to solve the problem of unemployment. The demands also referred to the State Government's willingness to host the National Youth Festival in 2004. The participation of about 3,000 youth from all the States is expected. According to the demands, the Government has planned to establish youth hostels in all the district headquarters to provide rent-free or concessional accommodation to outstation youth attending examinations or interviews for recruitment to jobs. Youth awards will be presented every year at the district and State-levels for outstanding youth organisations in various fields on the first of November, the State Formation Day. Youth festivals, youth exchange programmes, blood donation camps, Shramdaan, literacy, AIDS awareness camps and community development programmes involving youth will also be organised.
