War going as planned: Blair

London March 25. Claiming that the U.S.-led coalition forces have achieved ``huge amount'' in Iraq so far, the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, today said the war was proceeding ``exactly as we thought it would''. ``Within five days of the conflict beginning, we are 100 km south of Baghdad, a large part of Iraq has been secured and each of the main strategic objectives has been achieved,'' Mr. Blair said at his monthly news conference here today.

``The forces have achieved a huge amount in the war so far,'' he said and assured the Iraqi people that coalition forces would not let them down. He said the Iraqi people were wary of rising up against Saddam Hussein's regime after the failure to remove the dictator following the Gulf war in 1991.
