Sachin deposes before CA institute

Mumbai April 3. Batting maestro, Sachin Tendulkar, today deposed before a five-member disciplinary committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India after filing a complaint against his chartered accountant, Madhav Bhatkhande.

Early today, Mr. Tendulkar's brother Ajit, who handles the accounts, went to the Institute to represent the cricketer.

Later, Mr. Tendulkar and his wife, Anjali, arrived at the Institute to substantiate their charges against the accountant.

Bhatkhande's firm has been handling Sachin's accounts since 1989. Mr. Bhatkhande reportedly borrowed Rs. 26 lakhs from the cricketer in 1996. Later, his firm served on him a bill of Rs. 42 lakhs as fees for handling his accounts. The cricketerdisputed the bill, saying the fees was on the higher side. — PTI
