Seeds have it easy

KOLKATA APRIL 7. All the seeded players notched up comfortable wins in the first round before progressing to the pre-quarterfinals of the Central Excise Open grasscourt tennis here on Monday. Second seeded Kamala Kannan of Tamil Nadu, who was the highest seeded player in action in first round as top seeded State-mate Vinod Sridhar got a bye, had no problems in getting past the local challenger Nirvick Mohinta.

Similarly rest of the other seeds following Kannan — Ritesh Chitlangiya (Maharashtra), Saurav Panja (Bengal), Anjan Viplav (Andhra Pradesh), Sreyansh Sacheti (Maharashtra), Vivian Chhetri (Delhi) and Abhishek Jagnani (Bengal) — won in straight sets to move up easily.
