By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUPATI April 10. The Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET-2003) for admission to MBA and MCA courses will be held on May 28 and will be conducted by Sri Venkateswara University this year.

At a media conference here on Thursday, the ICET chairman and SVU Vice-Chancellor, P. Murali, said that the test would be conducted at 18 places in the State covering over 250 centres. The places are Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, Anantapur, Warangal, Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Kurnool, Ongole, Khammam, Kakinada, Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda.

D. Changal Raju of the varsity's chemical engineering wing, who has been made the convener, said that the applications could also be obtained from 104 head post offices and the campus post offices of the six varsities in the State.

Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) summary sheets would be provided along with the application form, that would be directly fed into the computer and hence the applicants were asked not to wrinkle or stain it. For careful handling, the candidates have been advised to submit the applications to the abovesaid post offices, which would forward the same to the ICET office at a service charge of Rs.30.

This time, the SVU has set itself a target of selling 1lakh applications and already 12,000 had been sold as on April 7. In contrast, the number sold last year by Osmania University was said to be around 86,000. Though the date has been announced, what remains unclear is whether the counselling process will be centralised or university-wise and the varsity officials are waiting for an order from the top.

The cost of each application is Rs. 200 and the last date for submission of the same is April 26. The hall tickets would be dispatched by May 10. For more details, the applicants can contact the convener at ICET-2003 office, Andhra Bank building, SV University campus, Tirupati-2 or on phone number 0877-2249722.
