Typhoid attack at Ramarajapuram: one dies

By Our Staff Reporter

MADURAI APRIL 19 . A mass typhoid attack at Ramarajapuram in Dindigul district, which left more than 50 persons admitted to different hospitals in Madurai and its suburbs, claimed one life today.

M. Karthik (14), a standard VIII student of the Mattaparai Government High School, who was admitted along with 44 others on April 11 to the Government Rajaji Hospital here with complaints of high and persistent fever, succumbed this morning.

"He was having severe typhoid complications. A majority of the victims have tested positive for typhoid and consumption of contaminated water is suspected to have caused the outbreak of the fever," said a senior doctor in the GRH.
