Governor's greetings

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE MAY 3. The Governor, T. N. Chaturvedi, has extended his greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Basava Jayanti tomorrow.

In a message, he said Lord Basaveshwara was one of our foremost religious reformers and social revolutionaries who heralded a social change in medieval India. ``Let his teachings inspire us to rise above narrow loyalties and parochial interests so as to usher in a social order of enduring amity, justice, and fellowship,'' the Governor said.

The Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, has greeted the people on the occasion of Basava Jayanti. ``Let the celebration of Basava Jayanti inspire one and all to practise, all the time, relevant principles preached by the sharanas led by Basavanna,'' the Chief Minister said in a message.

The Home Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge, and the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Jagadish Shettar, have extended Basava Jayanti greetings to the people.
