``The tariff revision by the TRAI is a continuous process and this is not the end of the road. This is a transitory period and we are slowly approaching a period where communication costs will become negligible and data transfer will be charged,'' the BSNL AP Telecom circle Chief General Manager, V Surya Sriramulu, said. Speaking to newsmen at a press conference here on Saturday, he said that in the light of the increasing competition among different operators, the TRAI took a decision to rationalise tariffs which were workable to operators. Accordingly, the BSNL had announced the new tariffs with several relaxations with an aim to promote higher usage of telecom services. Explaining the highlights of the new tariff plans like the provision of Level 95 access throughout the State and increase in the Internet services pulse rates, he said that the tariffs were only decided upon after conducting an exhaustive study on the pattern of the calls. Besides, the new tariffs also provided for bringing down the intra circle call charges from Rs 4.80 to Rs 2.40 and inter-circle fixed to cell charges from Rs 4.80 to Rs 3.60, he said. The Hyderabad Telecom District Principal General Manager, J. Balakrishna, and other senior officials were also present.
