Referring to the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee's speech in Parliament where he "once again declared his Government's desire to normalise relations with Pakistan", the Russian Foreign Ministry took special note of India's decision to resume full diplomatic representation in Islamabad and restore air links between the two countries. "Moscow has always advocated the return of India-Pakistan relations to the path of peace," the Ministry said in a statement on Saturday. "We regard A.B. Vajpayee's statement in the Indian Parliament as a major step towards creating a healthier climate in South Asia. We expect Pakistan also to take positive steps to reciprocate (India's initiatives)," the statement added.
