2 more test SARS-positive

NEW DELHI MAY 3 . The Centre today announced that two more persons, one in Kolkata and another in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, had tested positive for the SARS virus. With this, the total number of persons who have tested positive has gone up to 21.

The affected person in Kolkata, is a 25-year-old man, who was admitted to hospital on April 27 after arriving from Hong Kong via Dhaka. The Ratnagiri case is a 46-year-old man, who was admitted to hospital on April 28.

The Union Health Ministry also said that no new doubtful case was reported from anywhere in the country today and that so far 157 special respirators have been distributed to 22 States for use by doctors handling SARS cases in infectious disease hospitals. The other States were in the process of collecting their quota.

In all, 300 such respirators have been obtained and they were being distributed at the rate of 10 each for big States and five each for the small ones.
