Sex racket busted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM May 3. The Kazhakootam police have arrested six persons, including two women, on charges under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act (ITPA).

Police said the accused were Biju (26) of Powdikonam, Haleema (30) of Kallara, Syed Ali Koya (24) of Kanyakulangara, Saleena (24) of Kanyakulangara, Kiran (26) of Peroorkada and Najeeb (18) of Kallara.

The accused were arrested by a team led by the Circle Inspector (Kazhakoottam), P. Reghu, who was acting on information received by the SP (Rural), Ashok Yadav. sPolice said the accused were running the alleged sex-for-money racket from the first floor of a house on the side of the Kazhakoottam National Highway by-pass. All the accused were produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
