CT Secretary and Commissioner shifted

CHENNAI May 14. In a significant reshuffle in the administration soon after the Assembly budget session, the Government today shifted out both the Secretary and the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes. The State collected a record revenue last fiscal, breaching the Rs. 10,000-crore mark.

The Government also effected changes in the police set-up.

P.R. Bindhu Madhavan, now Planning and Development secretary, will be the new Commercial Taxes Secretary. He replaces Shaktikanta Das, who takes the place of C.P. Singh as Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. The State Human Rights Commission secretary, M. Abul Hassan, swaps places with the Commercial Taxes Commissioner, Debendranath Sarangi.

The Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce, S. Karuthiah Pandian, will move to the TWAD Board as Managing Director, in the place of N. Vasudevan, who takes the post of Industries Commissioner.

New Corpn. Commissioner for Chennai

In another move, the Chennai Corporation will have a new Commissioner. M.P. Vijayakumar, now project director, DANIDA health care project, project director, reproductive and child health project and Commissioner for maternal, child health and welfare, will switch places with M. Kalaivanan, present Commissioner. The Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation will have a new Managing Director in Sanwat Ram, former Commissioner of Sugar and CMD, Tamil Nadu Sugar Corporation.

R. Rajagopal, former CMD, Tamil Nadu Cements Corporation, has been posted as the Special Secretary in the Agriculture department. He will also be Vice-Chairman, Managing Director and Member-Secretary, Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency. K. Dhanavel, who was given additional charge of these posts in the Agency, will continue as Director, Horticulture.

Supriya Sahu, former Social Welfare Director, has been posted as Joint Secretary, Health and Family Welfare department.

The former Madurai Collector, S. Ramachandran, will be the new Nagapattinam Collector. He replaces Sudeep Jain, who has been moved to the ELCOT as Managing Director.

B. Anand, who has returned from training, will take over as Executive Director, Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women. He will also be Project Director, Tamil Nadu Empowerment and Poverty Reduction Project.

New DIG for intelligence

In the police reshuffle, the intelligence wing gets a new DIG.

While an Inspector-General has been posted for the Economic Offences Wing (CCIW, CID and Idol Wing, CID), Chennai, new Superintendents have been posted for two districts.

Sanjeev Kumar, who was hitherto DIG, Tirunelveli range, has been brought to the Intelligence wing in Chennai, in the place of Prateep V. Philip, who is the new DIG for the range.

On repatriation to the State cadre, Anoop Jaiswal, Inspector-General, has been posted to the Economic Offences Wing.

S. Rajendran, DIG, Modernisation and Welfare of Armed Police, Tiruchi, has been posted as DIG/Deputy Commandant-General, Home Guards in Tiruchi by redeploying the post in Chennai. M. Ravi and P.C. Thenmozhi have been posted as Superintendents of Police for Virudhunagar and Perambalur districts respectively. While the former, who was hitherto SP, Railways, Chennai, has been posted in the place of Maheshwar Dayal, who is on leave, the latter, till now SP, Economic Offences Wing-II, Chennai, succeeds S. Panneerselvam, who has been transferred as Commandant, Regimental Centre, Avadi.
