Letters to the Editor
Sir, V.R. Krishna Iyer in his article `Marad massacre' ( May 31 ), seems to imply that it was some `external' forces which had deposited dangerous weapons in the local Masjid and buried in the sands a large sabre stock. This suggestion should be rejected. Apparently he seems to be repeating the arguments put forth by the leaders and followers of the local Mohalla committee. Does Mr. Iyer seriously suggest that these arms and sabre stocks were brought in and kept hidden in the Masjid and the sands by the `external' elements? If such external elements did indeed sneak into Marad would they not have been spotted by the locals?
V. Krishnamoorthy,
