The golden jubilee celebrations mark the shifting of the AOC centre to Secunderabad from Pune on June 14, 1953. It has been the sole regimental centre of the corps as well as training centre for recruits. According to the Commandant, AOC, A.K. Jyoti, over two-lakh recruits have been trained at this centre to become soldiers. The ceremonial parade of Friday was led by Bani Singh and consisted of six contingents of marching soldiers. Contingent four was awarded the DGOS banner for best performance. Later, Lt. Gen. Gill honoured war widows and officers who had won medals in the line of duty. Lt. Gen. Gill spoke about the traditions of bravery and sense of duty displayed by every member of the Ordnance Corp and reminded the officers and men that they should live up to the reputation they had gained over the years. He also reminded his audience of the need to constantly upgrade themselves in human resource and technology so that the Army met all challenges successfully. The AOC has planned a slew of events to celebrate its 50 years in Secunderabad, including adventure shows and fun mela at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds for the general public of the twin cities.
