A couple of days ago, Robert David Bisset, the chief operating officer of G.E.O. Connect Limited, lodged a complaint that one John E. Sheffield cheated his company by giving a cheque that bounced. According to the complaint, Sheffield approached the G.E.O. Connect claiming that he was the chairman of a U.S.-based company, Tritech Information Strategies. He proposed for a business of providing call centre services to reputed companies. On January 5, the accused came to India and handed over a cheque worth 2 lakh dollars against services provided by the Australian company. The cheque, which was supposedly issued by Bank National Association Kennebunk Maine, bounced later. A case of cheating was registered at Connaught Place police station and the accused was arrested from Bangalore.
