Letters to the Editor
Sir, This is the right opportunity to get U.S. support in our fight against terrorism in Kashmir. We have to enter into a deal with the U.S. about sending troops to Iraq, with a bargain for a more U.S. hard-line stance on the issue of cross-border terrorism. Pakistan took advantage of the U.S. request for help during the Afghanistan war and got its economy back on track. We can utilise the present opportunity to solve the Kashmir problem.
B. Kaushik,
Sir, India is a partner of the U.S., the U.K. and Israel in the global fight against terrorism, and, hence, should send troops for peacekeeping purposes and also take part in the reconstruction of Iraq. India cannot curb Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir without U.S. help. It should be remembered that India had earlier sent troops to Korea, Congo and Sri Lanka.
Ambady Padmanabhan,
