Srikkant to release CD on cricket soon

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI June 21. The former skipper of the Indian cricket team, K. Srikkant, will be releasing shortly a CD-Rom covering various aspects of cricket.

In an informal chat with mediapersons at Srikalahasti temple on Saturday, where he earlier performed the `Rahu-Kethu' pooja, he said that the CD, which is in the final stage of production, would possibly be ready for release in two weeks.

Mr. Srikkant, who is currently busy writing cricket columns for the media besides anchoring TV programmes, was impressed with what he called the amazing popularity of cricket of late in the country side, thanks to the tremendous awareness created with the advent of the electronic media. He underscored, in this context, the need to tap the latent talent from the rural turf to strengthen the future Indian teams in all the faculties -- batting, bowling and fielding.

About the present Indian team, he said it was alright, except for the opening slot, and hoped it could be a formidable team if it were also reinforced.

His son, Aniruddh Srikkanth, who plays for the Tamil Nadu under-19 team, also participated in the temple ritual.
