Rallies no solution to Marad issue: SNDP Yogam

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI JULY 6. The Marad issue will not be solved by holding peace rallies and religious meets, C. K. Vidyasagar, SNDP Yogam president, has said.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the office of Gurudev Satsang at Palarivattom here today. Mr. Vidyasagar said the Government should study the situation in depth before initiating any action there.

Marad was an example of the increasing division between people in the name of religion. The teachings of Sree Narayana Guru would help in bringing in peace in society, he added.

He urged the Government to include Sree Narayana Guru's teachings in the school curriculum. The Centre had agreed to introduce Guru's teachings as an academic course in educational institutions, he added.

Commenting on the Yogam decision to evolve itself as a political force in the State, Mr. Vidyasagar said the move would help in ensuring the rights of the oppressed.

He said that the representation of the economically and socially backward communities in the local bodies was low. The Yogam would strive to ensure adequate representation of the backward communities, he added.

Trirathnatheertha Swamikal of Advaitashramam, Aluva, T. J. Vinod, Deputy Mayor, Bharathi Janardanan, president, Gurudev Satsang, K. K. Bose, secretary and E. K. Muraleedharan Master, Yogam councillor, attended the meeting.
