Manjunath misses century

BANGALORE July 8. President's XI was in a sound position on the opening day of the three-day KSCA under -19 cricket tournament semifinals at the NRA Grounds.

President's XI had made 419 for nine against Dharwad Zone with M.K. Manjunath falling one short of a century.

President's XI also had useful contributions from Gaurav Dhiman (65), Chetan Williams (71 n.o.) and R. Jonathan (63). Dharwad's Raju Bhatkal picked up four wickets.

In the other semifinal, at the K.T. Palace ground, Mysore Zone was 76 for three in reply to Shimoga's 218. Mysore's M.R. Darshan had a five-wicket haul, while Akshay picked up the three Mysore wickets that had fallen.

President's XI 419 for nine in 93 overs (Pawan Gargi 26, Robin Uthappa 34, M.K. Manjunath 99, R. Jonathan 63, Gaurav Dhiman 65, Chetan Williams 71 n.o., Raju Bhatkal four for 90) vs Dharwad Zone.

Shimoga Zone 218 in 66.5 overs (M. Nidhish 77, D. Raghavendra 30, Sunil Holla 56, Prithviraj three for 58, M.R. Darshan five for 64) vs Mysore Zone 76 for three (C.B.N. Bharath 33 n.o., Akshay three for 19).
