APWCA to invite Sri Lankan eves

VISAKHAPATNAM JULY 8. The Andhra Pradesh Women's Cricket Association (APWCA) will invite the Sri Lankan women's team for a series of one-day games this season to mark APWCA's 30-year celebrations.

This was decided at the executive committee meeting of the APWCA held here on Sunday, according to a press release from its vice-president, Jyothi Joshi, on Tuesday.

The meeting decided to conduct the senior inter-district championship at Nalgonda from August 17, the under-19 inter-district championship (for players born on or after January 1, 1984) at Visakhapatnam in September and the under-15 championship (for players born on or after January 1, 1988) at Tirupati in October.

The meeting also announced that all age certificates submitted by players should be certified by the schools on their letter-heads. It was decided that any player participating in any tournament should not be made a selector of APWCA and that only NIS coaches should accompany the teams.

Two office-bearers of the Visakhapatnam District Women's Cricket Association, its secretary, Srinivas Malladi, and T. Mouliswara Rao, have been made members of the selection committees for seniors and juniors respectively.

The meeting was attended by the APWCA's vice-president, Jyothi Joshi, secretary, T.N. Pillay, organising secretary, M. Ramalinga Reddy, and other office-bearers representing various districts.
