The birthday sponsorship is not all that expensive; a one-time dialysis can be gifted for Rs. 1000. You can also gift six dialysis sessions for Rs. 4500 and the patient will receive a card with the donor's name. For Rs. 9,000, you can help a needy patient get 12 dialyses. Patients who are in need of free dialysis can approach the hospital administrator or contact the foundation for help. The foundation has tied up initially with Narayana Hrudayalala and Sringeri Sharada Dhanvantri Dialysis Centre. Discussions are on with Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital and St. John's Hospital. If enough donors come forward to support the scheme, it will be extended to more hospitals in the City. The hospital authorities will select the patients and decide on the number of dialysis sessions required. Most persons with kidney failure need dialysis at least three times a week and each session may cost up to Rs. 1,500.According to nephrologists, about 4,500 new patients come with end-stage kidney failure a year.
