Explosives defused

Mumbai Aug. 7. In a major operation, the bomb disposal squad today defused a huge stock of explosives recovered from a quarry worker at Nagla Bunder in Thane district on Wednesday. In a two-hour operation, the squad defused 557 electric detonators, 238 non-electric detonators and 41 gelatine sticks amidst tight security, sources said. As many as 264 fuses and 185 kg of ammonium nitrate were also defused by the squad along with the crime branch sleuths. Alarmed by the recent spate of blasts in the city, the police have been conducting operations against illegal storage of explosives. — PTI
