Letters to the Editor
Sir, The proposed reservation for the economically backward among the forward castes is difficult to implement. The criterion is not stable and is subject to change. Even if a criterion is arrived on, on what parameters will the monitoring system function? Suppose a member of a family gets a decent employment after getting enrolled in the list, how can the reservation be revoked?
Joseph P. Sahayam,
Sir, It is high time we discarded the reservation system. As a member of the erstwhile Cochin royal family, I have always held that all people are equal. Reservation for the economically backward is not a solution. The Government will have a tough time identifying the eligible candidates.
Vijay Kerala Varma,
