Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
Mr. Murugan told reporters here that a rally would be held on September 6, besides a public meeting at Kamban Kalai Arangam at Odiansalai. The Tamil Nadu State CPI (M) committee secretary, N Varadarajan, would address the meeting. Detailing the programme, he said the volunteers would highlight the "failures of both the Central and State Governments of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry at Karaikal from August 29 to 31 and this would be followed by meeting people in rural and semi-urban areas in Pondicherry for five days from September 1. The CPI (M) opposed the new pension scheme announced by the Centre. He also wanted the authorities here to prevent smuggling of sand from the Union Territory to Tamil Nadu. Those who had held offices of ministers and also high-ranking officials should come out with details of the asset since 1985, Mr. Murugan said.
