`We will face allegations in court'

By Our Staff Reporter

Pondicherry Aug. 25. The president of the Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee, V. Narayanasamy, has described as `baseless and politically motivated` the AIADMK allegations against the Rangasamy government.

Addressing reporters at the party office here today, Mr. Narayanasamy, said "we will face the allegations in the court". The AIADMK submitted to the Lt. Governor, K.R. Malkani, on August 21 a list of corruption charges against the Government.

He said the National Democratic Alliance Government led by A.B. Vajpayee, had failed "miserably" to measure up to the expectations of the people. In the people's assessment, the Vajpayee-led government presented a "poor showing".

The appointment of chairperson for the Pondicherry State Social Welfare Board by the Central Social Welfare Board was improper as it was made bypassing the local government or without its knowledge.
