Special vigil was being maintained at airports and railway stations in Mumbai, West Bengal and in New Delhi. In the metropolis, checks of vehicles were conducted at main exit points and on the highways connecting Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. In Delhi, which is high on terrorists' strike list, additional police forces have been deployed in public places and random search of vehicles was conducted. An Ahmedabad report said the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, had asked the police to maintain vigil in sensitive areas, religious places and cinema halls. PTI
