Letters to the Editor
Sir, The developments in Uttar Pradesh erode the canons of public life and credibility of politicians. The capricious nature of politicians, susceptible to allurements and dishonest means, has brought disrepute to U.P., which plays a pivotal role in the formation of the Government at the Centre. The anti-defection law must be reviewed and amended to stall horse-trading.
K. Ramachandran,
Sir, U.P., along with Bihar, is politically notorious and the events happening there drive us to conclude that democracy in this country is a mockery. There seems to be no end to the selfishness of the political parties and their men, and to anarchy in these two States. It is time something was done to educate and enthuse the voters so that the bad elements are kept out.
V.S. Ganeshan,
