ISB's ambitious expansion

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI SEPT. 17. India's top business institute, Indian School of Business, has embarked on an ambitious expansion programme by increasing the number of students for its regular courses and introducing first-of-its-kind courses for executives besides adding more members to its existing illustrious faculty. Its management board also plans to develop a `think tank' to formulate policies for issues of concern for India as well as Asia.

According to Vijay Mahajan, the Dean of the Hyderabad-based institute, the plan was to increase the number of students to above 500 from 219 in the next three years. The effort would be to ensure greater participation of women candidates, particularly from class `B' cities, and foreign students.

The ISB will be spending around $3 million on its `Executive Development Programme' in the next three years.

Prof. Mahajan said the ISB was setting up Centres of Excellence in technology, entrepreneurship, leadership and change management, managing in emerging markets, strategic marketing and analytical finance.
