COIMBATORE: In what looks like an effort to rope in the overseas callers in general and those making frequent calls to the U.S. and West Asia in particular into its network, Airtel cellular has launched a promotional scheme (valid till September 30). "This is to make mobility truly affordable," P. Swaminathan, Chief Executive Officer, Bharti Cellular, said. Under this scheme, Airtel subscribers (both postpaid and prepaid) could make calls to the 16 West Asian countries till September 30 at Rs. 9.99 a minute against the normal Rs. 15.99 from mobiles and Rs. 24 from landlines. A similar offer was made last month for subscribers calling destinations in the U.S.
