`Law and order situation in Delhi worsening'

NEW DELHI. Oct. 18. The Lok Janshakti Party president, Ram Vilas Paswan, has asked the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, to own responsibility for the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital.

The LJP president said the situation had reached an all-time low.

``Parliament was attacked, as was the Red Fort, a sitting member of Parliament was shot dead, yet nobody has been held responsible. The buck has to stop somewhere,'' said Mr. Paswan.

Referring to the rape of the Swiss diplomat in the capital, the LJP president said it was a blot on the country and demanded that those charged with the responsibility of maintaining law and order, get their act together.

Mr. Paswan said the party has decided to put up candidates in all the States going to the polls in December.

``We waited for the largest secular party, the Congress, to take the initiative to ensure that there is no division in the secular vote. Since they have not taken any initiative we have decided to contest the elections''.

In Delhi the party will contest the polls as part of the Third Front, while in the rest of the States it will contest on its own.
