Sir, I grew up playing cricket and reading The Hindu. The Hindu is to journalism what Sachin Tendulkar is to cricket.

Sir, Rev. Boyd, Principal, Madras Christian College, used to tell his students: "Read the editorials in The Hindu to improve your English". I have been a reader of the paper since 1927,when I was a student of IV form.

Sir, My interaction with The Hindu started in 1947, when I was studying in II form in a high school located in a remote village, Innanje, in the then south Canara district under the Madras Presidency. I was first attracted by the big film advertisement on the front page. Then I started reading the sports column. Since then, I have been continuously reading The Hindu.
