Sir, Your editorial "Long overdue" ( Nov. 1 ) is commendable. Now it is the duty of the Ministry of Environment to ensure that the draft notification is enforced properly. This should not become a source of income for unscrupulous elements.

Sir, Besides the hazard caused to the rivers and water bodies, the eternally overgrowing megaplexes in cities violate the very basic rules of the ecosystem. It is important to move towards a geographic spread of the city from a holistic environment standpoint. It calls for proactive action from the government and urban bodies.
