Fatal fall

CHENNAI NOV. 16. A woman died on the spot when she fell down while trying to board an MTC bus at Kadaperi near Tambaram Sanatorium on Saturday. The Tambaram police said the woman, around 60-years-old, was yet to be identified. Her body was kept at the Chromepet Government Hospital.

The woman tried to board the bus (route no.18 M) and even before she could board it, the vehicle started moving. The woman slipped and fell down on the ground from the steps and was seriously injured. She was rushed to the hospital, where she died. The conductor, whose name was not revealed by the police, has been named as the accused in the case.

Identity established

The identity of a youth whose body was dragged for nearly 12 km by the engine of an express train five days ago has been established. The Avadi Railway Police said Sadasivam (23), a B.E. graduate, was run over by the engine of the Kovai Express near Ambattur on November 11. His body got entangled with the engine and the accident came to light only after the train halted at Sekkadu.
