Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the editorial, `Paper chase' (Nov. 17). The Maharashtra Government's callousness in dealing with the scam in spite of its seriousness, and the loss to the exchequer, is surprising. Unfortunately, scams have become the order of the day and it is a pity that politicians and bureaucrats join hands with criminals. We have to think of alternative ways to dematerialise more and more instruments to avoid such scams.
R. Muralikumar,
* * * Sir, The scam is proof that the powerful politician-bureaucrat-police nexus is siphoning off the hard-earned money of the common man and spelling disaster for the economy.
Akhil Kumar,
* * * Sir, The performance of the police has again come under severe criticism. Are there no monitoring agencies in governmental and judicial circles to curb and prevent a lackadaisical enquiry on their part? This should be a cause for concern. As for stamp papers, the world has advanced so far that we can do away with them for land transactions.
S. Chidambaram Iyer,
