Sir, The recent reports of attacks and counter-attacks by the Assamese and the Biharis against students from each other's States made for sad reading. Biharis have been living in Assam peacefully for years. The sizeable Hindi-speaking people of Bihar and Rajasthan living in Assam have never been a cultural barrier. In fact, the most respected Assamese artist during independence "Rupkonwar" Jyoti Prashad Agarawala originated from Rajasthan.
