The DMK pullout

Sir, — The DMK chief, M. Karunanidhi's explanation that the party's decision to pull out of the NDA was delayed by Murasoli Maran's illness does not seem to be convincing.

Sir, — The DMK's withdrawal again brings into focus the NDA's `open door' policy. Anyone can leave it at any time and, more importantly, they can rejoin the alliance any time.
