Unwise move

Sir, — The Human Resource Development Ministry's move to shift the December vacations in Kendriya Vidyalayas to mid-January is unwise.

Though it is claimed to have been taken to reduce the hardships of students in northern India, it certainly undermines the importance of `Christmas vacations' in our minds.
