After hearing the CBI SPP's arguments in part, the court adjourned the case to January 2. In another case relating to "free chappal scam", also during the previous AIADMK rule, the judge ordered issue of a bailable warrant (BW) against a former Additional Superintendent of Police of the Directorate of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, an investigating officer, for failing to appear before the court today for tendering evidence. The judge said the witness did not come yesterday. In spite of the court's specific instruction to bring the witness without fail today, the Special Public Prosecutor submitted a petition seeking adjournment. "Hence it is clear that the SPP is dragging the case", the judge said and dismissed the application. He ordered issue of the warrant. The case has been posted for January 2. The witness sent a letter yesterday stating that his father, aged 90, was critically ill. As he had to attend to him, he could not come to the court.
