Thengapatnam beach in connection with the conclusion of a 10-day festival at the Navaneetha Krishna temple. The police, however, denied a permission. A tense situation prevailed when the villagers assembled to defy the police order. Mr. Ramagopalan rushed to Sembalanjivilai and supported the villagers. But no sooner he began the procession than the police arrested him. Meanwhile, a group of about 300 people protested the arrests. The crowd did not disperse even after police appealed to them.
