Mohd. Abdul Waheed Qadri (face covered) being whisked away by the police from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Sessions Judge I Court after being arrested by the AP Special Investigation Team in the fake stamp paper scam.
Son of a retired Commercial Taxes Officer, Qadri had three brothers and two sisters. He discontinued the final year B.Com course. After going to Saudi Arabia in 1980, he returned to India in 1988. In 1993 he set up a transport company - Best New India Road Transports (BNIRT). He was also a member of the peace committee of the Begumbazar police station. In 1999, Qadri, along with his manager, Anwar Jaleel, were made `panch witnesses' in the fake stamp paper racket in which Telgi was also arrested. Later, he allegedly developed contacts with Telgi and secured office premises in the Babukhan Estate building to run a modelling business. The same office was subsequently used to run counterfeit stamp racket. He opened another office at the Kushal Towers in Khairatabad. The police found that Qadri allegedly colluded with a resident of Chennai, M. Andalamma, and her husband, Krishnamoorthy, to sell fake stamps to insurance companies in the State.
