Bihar bans import of birds
By K.Balchand
PATNA,
JAN. 31.
Bihar is also feeling the impact of the bird flu scare with the State Government banning the import of all birds, including chicken, especially because of its proximity to at least two countries.
Acting on the directive of the Centre, the State Government has initiated additional precautionary measures to prevent the disease from entering the State and the country in general.
Though no case of bird flu has been detected in the State, the district authorities of East and West Champaran, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Saharsa, Kishanganj and Araria which share a transnational border with Nepal have been directed to strictly ban the export and import of birds. Some of these districts are equally closer to Bangladesh.
