National art exhibition from February 6

KOCHI, JAN. 31. The 46th National Exhibition of Art organised by the Lalithakala Akademi, New Delhi, will begin at the Durbar Hall Art Centre here on February 6. The Governor, Sikander Bakht, will inaugurate the exhibition at a function to be held at the T.D.M. Hall in the evening.

The annual national awards for art given by the Akademi will also be distributed at the function, C.L. Porinchukutti, vice-chairman, Lalithakala Akademi, New Delhi, said at a press conference here on Saturday.

The National Artists Camp, which will begin at Bolghatty Palace from February 7, will be inaugurated by K. Jayakumar, joint secretary, Department of Culture, New Delhi.

<167,2p,1>The national awards worth Rs. 50,000 each will be presented to 15 artists, including Francis A. Kodankadath from Kerala.

<167,4p,1>The national artists camp, being organised jointly by the Akademi and Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, will have 12 participants from all over India.

<167,2p,1>The exhibition will feature 318 paintings and sculptures.
