KOCHI, JAN. 31. The Lalithakala Akademi, New Delhi, vice-chairman, C.L. Porinchukutty, has requested the cooperation of the State Government and the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi in setting up the central Akademi's regional centre in the State. While addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Porinchukutti said that the regional centre of Akademi could be set up only with the active cooperation of the State Government and local Akademis. The land should be handed over to the Lalithakala Akademi with the expenses being shared equally between the State Government and the Akademi, he said. The Lalithakala Akademi had regional centres in Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Guwhati. Moreover, the Governments of Maharashtra and Jammu-Kashmir have approached the Akademi with requests to set up the regional centres.
