Buddhadeb ridicules bandh call

By Our Special Correspondent

KOLKATTA, FEB. 2. The West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, ridiculed the 12-hour Statewide bandh called by the Trinamool Congress to protest against the "imposition of taxes" on domestic animals.

"The call has been given on the basis of rumours. I have never before seen a bandh being called on such flimsy grounds. The people would never respond to a bandh being called on such rumours," Mr. Bhattacharjee said.

However, the administration has stepped up security in view of the bandh call.
