Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, FEB. 6. The sky will be partly cloudy on Friday, with the minimum temperature around 24 degree Celsius.

On Thursday, Nungambakkam registered a maximum temperature of 30.9 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 23.3 degree Celsius. At Meenambakkam, the corresponding temperatures were 31.2 degree Celsius and 22.4 degree Celsius. Humidity was 83 and 78 per cent.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in parts of Tirumullaivoyal, Ambattur, Nanganallur, East Pallavaram, Mandaveli, Sowcarpet East, Padi, St. Thomas Mount and Vepery for maintenance work between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday.

ATM inaugurated

A networked automatic teller machine was inaugurated at the Mahila Banking branch of Canara Bank on Wednesday. With this Chennai city has 38 ATMs and Chennai Circle has 54 branches. ATM and debit cardholders of other branches of the bank in the country can withdraw cash at this ATM, says a release of the bank.

Blood donation camp

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Tirumangalam branch of Indian Bank, a blood donation camp and a customers' meet were held by the bank. The Madras Voluntary Blood Bank coordinated with the camp and more than 50 units of blood were collected, says a release.

Yagna yatra

S. Bhaskar, an ex-serviceman, will drive a two-wheeler to Kashmir from Kanyakumari for communal harmony and India-Pakistan friendship. He began his `yagna yatra' on January 26.

The yatra has been organised by the Association of Peoples of Asia, TN chapter, Indian Red Cross Society, Chennai district branch. Petro cards from Bharat Petroleum were issued to Mr. Bhaskar.

Annual day

The Kumara Rani Meena Muthiah Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated its annual day on Wednesday. Meena Muthiah, founder of the school, participated in the function.
