Coast Guard vessels open to public

CHENNAI, FEB.5. Coast Guard vessels berthed at the Chennai port will be open to the public between 10 a.m. and 4-30 p.m. on February 7 and 8.

Entry to the port will be through gate No. 7, near the Beach railway station, according to a government communiqué.

As part of the Coast Guard week celebrations, a walkathon is to be organised on February 8 in the city. U.N. Chitnavis, commander, Coast Guard (east) would flag it off at 6-45 a.m. from Anna Square. The participants would walk upto the Light House, near Santhome, and return to the Coast Guard headquarters near the Cooum river mouth. The walkathon was aimed at creating environmental awareness.
