KOCHI, FEB.11. The expert committee appointed by the Kerala High Court to inquire into allegations of overexploitation of ground water by the Hindustan Coca-cola Beverages Private Ltd at its plant at Plachimada today filed a preliminary report before the court. In its report, the committee convener pointed out that the committee had carried out monitoring of 24 observatory wells and found that between January 12 and February 9 it had extracted as many as 99.99 lakh litres of water. The committee also inspected the meters installed by the company and found that volume of water measured by the meter was correct. A Division Bench had constituted the committee when an appeal filed by the company against the single judge's verdict directing the company to stop extraction of ground water and find alternative source of water came up.
