TUMKUR, FEB. 12. Swami Ranganathananda, who heads Sri Ramakrishna Math, Kolkatta, and service organisations affiliated to it, has stressed the need to adopt the messages of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda. Speaking at the two-day Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Tatvavalokana Sammelan here, he said the messages of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda were relevant to this day. Swami Harshananda, chief of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Bangalore, said: "Reformation must begin at the top. Morality must be practiced by those at the helm of affairs. Spiritual retreats must be conducted for political leaders," he said. The Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, lauded the services of Sri Ramakrishna Math. He gave away awards to 30 schoolchildren for scoring the highest marks in an examination on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. He expressed happiness over the fact that 22 of them were from rural areas, and a majority of them were girls.
